Just barely catching our breaths, we realize that we may have left you all out on some happenings around here. Namely, that we MOVED.
We are still in San Francisco, but the two bedroom condo, after 16 swellegant years for Kirstin, finally became too small. We were cozy enough once Daphne showed up, then when Jonathan started working at home full time, enough was enough.
So we shopped all summer trying to figure out what, where, how big, and for how much. We considered some outlying suburbs, but none met all our geographic criteria for our work lives. Oh, and some were too far away from the ocean for convenient surfing. We eventually found ourselves looking a lot in some neighborhoods on the west side of San Francisco, where there are many single family homes -- some with grass even!
We ended up buying one of the first houses we saw, in a neighborhood called Miraloma Park, which is out past the Castro and Diamond Heights, just short of West Portal. We painfully made our way through the loan process in the midst of the credit crisis and moved in at the end of October. Jonathan fled town for the occasion, feigning some sort of 10-day training program. Whatever.
Friends and family came out to help get us moved. The condo was like a clown car, stuff just kept coming out of it: furniture, decorative do-dads, kitchen gadgets, 16 years worth of collectibles from special places -- all important nesting items. In retrospect, Jonathan was smart to steer clear!
We wanted the place because it felt like a home to us when we first saw it. After 6 weeks, it is starting to feel more like OUR home now. Below are a few more pics of the house from when it was on the market. With room to host guests, we're eager to have you come visit!
