The rumor is true... our baby girl was born Monday night this week. We're now home from the hospital and doing well. Here are the details:
Daphne Jasmine Dobson
April 28th / 7:26pm
7 pounds, 15 oz.
20.5 inches
Immediately following her birth, Jonathan cut the cord while Kirstin recuperated from her out-of-body experience known as "labor."
Labor started on Sunday evening and we went to the hospital around midnight. All together labor was about 24 hours, with just 2 really intense hours for Kirstin. Jonathan stepped up to the plate and was a superb "doula", and the nurses gave him a lot of kudos when all was said and done. Much to her surprise, Kirstin did hardly any swearing!
An added treat, our good friend Celeste came by for a visit during the last hour of pushing (what timing!) Celeste is a veteran in the medical world and used to work at the hospital where we were delivering as a Nurse Anesthetist. It doesn't hurt to have plenty of calm, caring and medically astute folks surrounding you at a time like that! And up until then, her husband Robert (who stills works there), was checking in on us regularly. We felt the love!
Our little baby is fleshy and pink, just how we like 'er. And during these first 3 or 4 days she has slept plenty, just not always when we had hoped! ;-) Here are a few more pics.

Nana and Grandpa Williams were here just an hour after delivery to hold the little spud. They were a tad excited to meet her.

No really, it's totally, unbelievably wonderful, and she's as beautiful as her name. (Considering what he'd been through, Jonathan looks pretty good too!)
